Gongguan and Shida Night Markets are only ten-minutes-walk away, providing everything from traditional snacks to modern cuisine. Aside from various food options, second-hand bookstores, bakeries, banks, supermarkets, salons, and 24-hour convenience stores are all within a ten-minute walk from campus. Public transportation like the Taipei Metro and the buses, as well as public bicycles Youbike, are all right in front of the campus (some have stops on campus!), making exploring hassle-free. Familiar stores like IKEA and Costco are also accessible by MRT or bus within 30 minutes.
Arts and Culture
Discover local crafts and films at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, learn about Taiwan’s history at Dihua Street, attend an international music star’s concert at the Taipei Arena, or explore the numerous temples scattered around the city. Taipei has a vibrant arts and culture scene that is easily accessible to NTU students. The museums, heritage sites, music venues are all within reach by public transportation. Outdoors
Taipei has a lot to offer for those who like to be outdoors too. As the city sits in a basin, it has numerous hiking trails on the surrounding mountains. Popular hikes include the Elephant Mountain Trail where you can get a great view of Taipei 101 and the Qingtiangang Loop Trail where you might see wild water buffaloes. There are a lot of options for those who want to spend a day lounging on a beach too such as Fulong Beach and Baishawan Beach. These outdoor activities are accessible by MRT, public buses, and trains. The opportunities are endless in Taipei.
